Barnet Training Hub with LAS – Expression of Interest to host advanced paramedic (approx. 1 day/week) Jan – Dec 2022

Dear GP Partners, GPs and Practice Managers,

You may be aware that since January 2019, Barnet Training Hub has collaborated with the London Ambulance Service (LAS) to provide placements for advanced paramedics practitioners (APPs) to gain primary care experience during their urgent care Master’s programme. The paramedics are employed by LAS and released for approximately one day a week to work in primary care in 6 month blocks (Jan-June and July – Dec).

LAS now have a cohort of APPs in their second year who they would like to experience working in primary care and so we are looking for EoIs from PCNs/practices to support the programme from January 2022. PCNs can either propose one host practice to take an APP all year (two different paramedics, each for 6 months) or two practices (one taking APP Jan-June and the other July-Dec.) The former model allows development of expertise in the practice of hosting APPs and provides service provision of a weekly clinic (approx.) throughout the year. The latter model allows two practices to benefit from the programme plus the additional benefit of supervisor support within a PCN if two practices are participating as a pair.

Please find attached an expression of interest form (EoI) that must be completed and returned to Emily at by no later than Thursday 25th November 2021. I have also attached a few documents with more information about the programme.

If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact me.

Best wishes,

Mandy Claret
