2020 is nearly over…. What a year it’s been. 2020 being Florence Nightingale’s bicentennial year, World Health Organisation (WHO) designated it to be the first ever global Year of the Nurse and Midwife. Who would have thought that the same organisation would also have to announce that a deadly coronavirus had emerged in Wuhan, China. In a matter of months, due to its devastating global impact WHO declared the COVID-19 outbreak a pandemic.
It has been both a challenging and an humbling time to be in the NHS during this year. There is much for you to celebrate as nurses in this extraordinary year. I hope we captured some of these highlights in our Forum yesterday. Christmas is going to be very different this year but hopefully there will still be opportunities to reflect, rest, and be refreshed with time spent amongst friends, family and fellow workers

There are currently 2 hubs in Barnet offering COVID-19 Vaccinations to their patient population. One at Wentworth Medical Centre and the other one at Temple Fortune Health Centre. Red whale training for NCL nurses- THURSDAY 14TH JANUARY 2021. BOOK EARLY TO AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT
Barnet Primary Care Training Hub is excited to announce that we have now commissioned an action packed, LIVE virtual interactive Practice Nurse Update from Red Whale (Lifelong Learning for Primary Care) on January 14th 2021 10-4pm. This has been made possible with the funding provided for every nurse’s CPD funding from NHSE/I via Health Education England and carefully chosen topics have been decided after our local nursing focus group. Please contact Georgina Marsden (email@example.com) who will send you an access code. You need to use the access code to register a place via the Red Whale link on the attached flyer. Once delegates register for the course they will receive an automatic confirmation email. One week before the course they will be sent a pre-course email containing details on how to access the course, then a reminder email one day before the course. Delegates should keep an eye on their junk folder as these emails may accidently go to this folder instead of their inbox.
WITHOUT THIS ACCESS CODE and same email address you will not be able to access the training on the day. You will also be able to access information about the day on our website Although the event will be recorded and the course materials sent to your home addresses you will benefit from being part of the larger LIVE group on the day. We are so fortunate to have this opportunity and funding so please book as soon as possible to reserve your place. This training is now opened up to NCL nursing colleagues so please book ASAP to avoid disappointment
Hypertension: Virtual Group Consultations and Remote Monitoring – Nursing leadership opportunity
We are looking for a nurse to join an NCL implementation group for a project with NHS E funding to look at those with diabetes, CHD, CKD and BP>150/90 to look at helping them to monitor BP, be aware of lifestyle management etc. -delivered mainly by nurses and are keen to involve social prescribers and expert patients in the project which also looks at using remote virtual groups( although can by 1;1 if eg patient doesn’t have computer etc.) .
NCL is looking for an additional nurse/pharmacist to sit on the implementation group which would involve joining a series of Teams meetings to help with the implementation planning and then helping to champion this across your nursing peer group and pharmacy teams. MWord 78 : Brace Brace
It has been a long and arduous journey this 2020… There have been some positives to come out of this as well – the joys of taking a walk, the rediscovery of old hobbies like baking and gardening and sewing.
This will be last of my weekly Newsletter until the New Year. Have a restful and joyful holiday season.
Best wishes for a Happy and Healthy 2021
