The SPIN Fellowship programme for newly qualified GPs supports a joint approach taken by Health Education England (HEE) and NHSE/I in London under the umbrella term of the Salaried Portfolio Innovation Scheme (SPIN) which was established last year. This year the SPIN Fellowship programme comes attached with funding for 1 session a week (pro rata) for every GP fellow to undertake a developmental role in their local healthcare economy for up to 2 years. The other key elements of the programme includes attendance at a monthly educational session (currently running remotely) as well as access to six, one-hour sessions of mentoring from an experienced GP.
To support the mentorship offer, we are looking to recruit approximately 20 mentors across North Central London. GPs on our supporting mentor scheme will be provided with fully-funded training leading to a recognised mentoring or coaching qualification (ILM 5) or equivalent.
Key requirements for potential mentors:
- We are looking for experienced GPs
- You must be working at least 3 clinical sessions per week
- You need the capacity to provide two sessions per month of mentorship (in addition to clinical sessions). This will be paid at a rate of £289 per session.
- You must be working in a North Central London practice (Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey and Islington)
